It was the Nazi propaganda machine that fomented hatred of the Jewish people, and now the world has forgotten. Anti-semitic hate crime is on the rise not only in Europe, but in America as well, where Jews remain the most frequently targeted faith. Jews make up less than 0.2% of the world’s population, yet the scapegoating continues.
As a chaplain intern, I work with people of all faiths. When I walk into a room to visit, the people I see don’t care what my belief system is, because they just want a loving, caring human being to visit with them and pray with and for them, which is what I love so much about this profession.
My prayer is that we all work towards making this world one that spins on the axis of peaceful co-existence, with every man, woman and child walking with peace, love, and understanding filling their hearts and souls. When that day comes, propaganda will have no audience, hate will be a thing of previous generations, and (wo)mankind will be able to look back with a clear lens at how foolish (s)he was.
