Happy with Our Lot

cat and yarnImagine how different the world would be if every man, woman and child were actually happy with the hand they’d been dealt in life. . . “Gealousy” would become a thing of the past.

For the vast majority of people I visit at the nursing home to “be happy with their lot,” all it would take is for their body to function well enough for them to be independent, able to care for themselves, with the freedom to go wherever they want whenever they want.

For all the children I work with in grades 2 through 8, all they really want is enough food to fill their bellies, and friends and parents who respect, love and care about them.

Maybe we should begin to make our life goal finding happiness in our lot and helping others do the same.

This is a wonderful reminder. Oftentimes, when I am not feeling happy or thankful for where I am at, I pinch myself. This is real life, and the pain I feel lets me know that my body is functioning properly! Not too violent to myself, though! Thanks for this 🙂

  2. What a beautiful post! Thank you for sharing these thoughts. So true. Doesn’t it seem that we need to experience a tragedy, either our own or someone else’s, to remind us of a “wake-up call” to appreciate and feel great gratitude for all we have. Have a great week. Anita
