Building Memories

ImageThis week has been an emotional roller-coaster for me as a chaplain intern, losing a beloved, cherished resident, and a few days later losing another resident who was anything but beloved or cherished.

Seeing the stark difference between these two residents’ circumstances just speaks so clearly to what our life’s journey is supposed to be about.  We’re supposed to work to connect with others, to build love, to build memories, to build meaningful moments that last well beyond our years.

If we work to build these connections, these memories and these moments, we’ll be able to look back without regret, and everyone whose lives we’ve touched along the way will remember us with love, respect, and admiration.  After all, isn’t that what we want to be able to say, feel and know at the end of this journey?
