God’s Touch – A Prayer for Hospice Caregivers

When we walk into a room

To care for our hospice patients and their families

God enables us to be strong,

By reminding us

That we are never walking alone,

That God’s angels walk with us

Guiding us, our patients and their families

Supporting us, our patients and their families

Comforting us, our patients and their families

Always

Because not only do they need to find and hold onto that which leads them to a safe, comforted, peaceful spiritual space

We need it, too

Because their grief, loss and pain so often feels

Like our grief, our loss and our pain

When we recognize it,

We turn to You for solace

You help us to let go

Of all that grief, all that loss and all that pain

And You help us help our patients and their families

Let go of it as well

You are the miracle worker

Without You, our work would be impossible

Our spiritual pain

And that of our patients and their families would be unbearable

Thank you, Dear Lord,

For everything.
