Interpreting Dog-Speak

Rhett Butler 4.11

My dog, so fuzzy, old and slow

Wants me to understand

When he stands up and looks at me

What he wants to say

A glass of water?

A snack?

A walk?

I wish I knew just what

Try the water

That’s not it

Try the walk

It’s not that either

Try the snack

And nothing helps

Perhaps it’s his tummy again

Give him meds

A hug, a rub

Cuddle him thoroughly

When he gets up

And walks away

It’s obvious

He feels better

I only wish I knew dog-speak

So he wouldn’t have to wait as long

For me to give him what he needs

So he could feel all better.
