Simple Joys

Eastern New Mexico High Plains

Eastern New Mexico’s High Plains – Image by Karl F. Moffatt Blogspot

Drivin’ ’round New Mexico today,

I thanked God for everything I could see:

The herds of cows,

The hawks and horses,

The turkey vultures,

Prairie dogs and doggy dogs,

The cats and chickens,

Goats and graveyards,

Dirt devils,

Cacti, grasses and trees,

The blue sky,

Sunshine and raindrops,

Ramshackle homes

Tiny towns and churches

Sprawling ranches

And romping deer

All part of Eastern New Mexico’s high plains atmosphere

A simple joy for all to see

As I drove the car

Feelin’ God with me.
